After you open the gate you get 1000 exp. If you talk to him again you will have another option to ask him to stop referring to himself in the third person.
After that option is selected the player can once again tell Zaxis to open the portal and gain another 1000 exp. Next, go and see Lord Nasher in Castle Never and tell him you found a journal. He will reward you with 500 XP and 200 GP. Now all you have to do is steal the journal and give it back to him again for yet another reward of 500 XP and 200 GP.
